Can't Import Favorites

I recently had to reinstall XP Pro after finding a corrupted registry that
resisted all repair efforts and want to use Windows Import to transfer my old
favorites list to the new list. The process seems to work up to the point
where a submenu tells me that the bookmark.htm file can not be opened. A look
at that file (old bookmark.htm) says that it is use. I have no idea what is
happening, but at this juncture, I am stuck....Any help and suggested
alternatives will be gratefully appreciated....Thanks

You don't really need to do much to get the favourites; all you need to do
is locate the folder on the old account, and copy the files to the
favourites folder on your new account. Close IE first. If it's reluctant,
log in with the Admin account and get the files from your account.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I guess that using the import routine requires
that IE
remain open. If closing IE will allow the file copying to proceed of what
use is IMPORT/EXPORT in IE?

It may seem like an odd question, but did you ever actually EXPORT the
favorites to a file before you tried to use Import?
