Can't hide Drive C: ...

It is typically a simple matter to hide Windows XP hard drives by manually
applying policy to the registry, or by using the local policy editor, but I
am seeing a curious problem concerning drive C:. Oddly, I can hide any drive
except C:, which will instead shift to become the last drive displayed in
Windows Explorer rather than vanishing, as it should.

This is the method I am using: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555438

Has anyone seen this peculiar problem before? If so, how did you cure the
problem?

Thanks,

Vinson

Hello,

I tried it, and it didn't work for me with XP SP2 either. With normal XP and
Vista, it worked perfectly.
I don't know, I'm afraid, how to solve this.

Thank you for confirming this problem. I am running both Windows XP Pro and
Home (SP2), and drive C: seems to be the only drive affected on both
machines. I have to wonder if some recent Microsoft patches have affected
this group policy.

Thank you for your time!

Thank you, Gregory.

I am curious about the "hidesystemdrive" setting, but I cannot find any
information about it. Would you please tell me where I can find out more
information about it, or provide the exact key where it should be placed in
the registry? Thanks!
