Hiding D drive problem

S

SS

I am using the following instructions in order to try and hide my D drive
There is already a NoDrives in the registry (value fb fb ff 03) and when I
try and modify it I don`t get the option of clicking on decimal option.
If I try and create a new NDrive it tells me it already exists.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong. thanks

1.. Click Start -> Run type regedit in the box and click OK
2.. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer

3.. From the menu, navigate to Edit -> New -> DWORD Value
4.. Name the New Value NoDrives

5.. Next, Right click NoDrives and select Modify, now check the Decimal
option and under Value Data enter a decimal value for the drive you would
like to hide. For example to hide C you would enter 4. See the list below
for more values:

I have tried tweak-UI and for some reason it wont hide the D drive icon
hence the reason to try manually.
I have uninstalled and then reinstalled Tweak-UI but still not working.

One other option might be to set the Controller channel/tap to
disabled instead of "Auto". This effectively hides whatever the
device is connected to it. Only downside is it's easy to forget
you've done that and in the future you might need to access the
drive. Most recent motherboards have this Advanced option
for Primary/Secondary controllers under the IDE/ATAPI category.

Isn't this the second time today you asked the same question? You should
stay in the same thread

The option I gave you earlier & in the other post is what you normally would
do

All TweakUI will do is the same thing as your doing now except you're doing
it manually & TweakUI uses a GUI

Only first time in this thread that I am aware of.
Your previous answer to a posting I made several days ago was indeed
regarding tweak-Ui however my post here was asking how to do this manually
as (from previous post) Tweak-UI
didn`t sort it for me. One poster responded by suggesting Tweak-UI instead
of doing manually.

might be simpler by
leaving the drive
as is

and simply hide
the contents on it.

a program called
"free folder hide" is
ideal.

SS,

The post (how to hide local drives) I am talking about is showing in this
newsgroup at 6.58am 9th April 2009 (today)

I would never recomment anyone using TweakUI. All it is is a front-end of a
registry manipulator & done for novice users to make simple changes. If you
know the registry like I do then it isn't something you'd use. The same can
be said for MSCONFIG. Back in the Windows 98 days it was possible to kill
your machine using it. Now, the run keys are moved to run- when unselected.

So what value are you setting NoDrives to? Should be 8

A: 1, B: 2, C: 4, D: 8, E: 16, F: 32, G: 64, H: 128, I: 256, J: 512, K:
