One unfortunate thing the network wizard does is to enable the native
ICF firewall. Use Control Panel, Network Adapters, and uncheck the
native firewall under the Advanced tab.

If you are going to use the Simple File sharing model under XP Pro,
remember to enable the Guest account on both machines.

Hello
No the router should be set to default and will assign an IP address
automatically.
Have you got the Local Area Connections installed correctly

First open the Properties of My Network Places, delete or disable all
connections except your internet connection, (all computers). Right click
your IC go to Properties the Local Area Connection Properties will open,
install Client for MS Network, File & Print Sharing, Internet
Protocol(TCP/IP)(on this protocol click Properties select Obtain IP and DNS
Automatically), install NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBios Protocol(this will allow the
firewall to be enabled), click OK. Now back on your Network Connections
click on the left of the page, Setup a Small Home Network, the wizard will
open then just follow the instructions, when you get to the point to Create
a Floppy then do so, then you just run it on the other computer,(insert the
floppy in the other puter open My Computer double click A drive then double
click the link that appears. Be sure to name your Workgroup (not domain) the
same and give each computer a different name.

To hook up Printer sharing just install the printer on the host computer go
to Printer and Faxes right click your printer, then go to Sharing, then set
it to Share then name it, click OK.

Go to the other computer open Printer & Faxes on the left of the page click
and a printer then follow the instructions.

I still can't get them to network, Another thing i tried
was to directy hook them both up with a cross over cable,
and that didn't work either. they ping eachother, but no
luck. Im running a nVIDIA network adapter mcp networking
card (on board the mother board) on both machines. any
thing else?

Thanks,
Ben

In the start menu, click on RUN, then type "msconfig" if
the first box "normal start-up" is not checked, click on
the tab services and find out which service is not
checked. by checking all of the boxes it will
automatically put it in normal startup, (you need to be
in normal starup for this to work, otherwise not all the
nessesary programs will load that are needed for
networking) reset it then run the network wizard. if
what you are saying you have done has all been done, and
it still is not working, this will work, if it doesnt, i
would start leaning towards incompatible hardware....?
hope this helps

It works, my net client was not checked in the service
tab, along with another networking tab. all checked now,
and all is perfect.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
