Can't Get Windows to Start.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. Recently i tried
starting the computer and it gave me an error message
saying that the file Windows/system32/config/system
cannot be found or is damaged. I don't know what to do.
I've tried putting in the Windows XP CD but it does
nothing. Please, someone help me!
 
Put your cd in the machine and restart the pc (if you
have not already done this go to bios and choose first
boot device as your cdrom) when u start pc it should boot
from xp it will give u a selection either install or
repair choose repair and that will repair your windows
installation....... choose install and that will install
windows again
