can't get thru install

Hoping someone can help. When trying to reinstall XP Pro,
by chosing format partition, the installation still
freezes. Is this a sign of a defective HD?

hi..
it depends..
if you are having the same issue over and over again at
the same percentage then it could be the reason.Why don;t
u try to run some kinda diags on the hardddrive.If they
are;nt available.then try to install XP on the newly
formatted unpatitioned space and delete the old partitions
before doing that...it general helps.

It could be a defective HD, power supply unit problem, faulty RAM, CPU or
even a faulty motherboard. I recently had this problem an it turned out to
be a faulty motherboard. If you system is still under warranty have it
checked. This can be a difficult problem to ferret out.
