I have updated to Windows XP. I would like to know how to get my computer ro recognize my scanner
It is a Hewlett Packard (hp scanjet 2200). It worked before. It is connected right. The software installed okay, but I keep getting a couple of messages when I try to get into the program: 1. the scanner can't be found 2. another program is busy and I need to close it first. I have no other programs running when I try to open it. I have installed the scanner, uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. HELP!!

I have a ScanJet 3200. With Windows XP, all I had to do
was download the updated drivers & software from the HP
website. The XP built-in drivers were not sufficient, and
the original HP software that came with such an old scanner
cannot work with XP. You should be able to find your model
at www.hp.com. Click on "Support & Drivers," then type in
your scanner model to find anything you would need to
download for it. (Be sure you download files designed for
XP). Also, I would recommend uninstalling the software and
drivers that came with the scanner first, before installing
anything new. That way, you don't have any conflicts b/t
the old & new software, trying to both control the same device.
