Can't get my folders & email & address book from old computer to n

Since I didn't get an adequate answer from my first post I need to resend this.

I just got a new computer running Windows XP and Outlook 2003 and I couldn't
migrate any of my folders with emails or the address book from my old
computer running Windows ME and Outlook Express. I'm not an IT technical
person so I'm hoping someone can give me step-by-step information on how to
migrate the data without going into a lot a technical jargon. I just need
some hand holding for a bit.

Can I just download the *.dbx folders on a USB flash key and copy them into
Outlook on the new computer or do I have to copy them into Outlook Express on
the new computer and then import them into Outlook? And what about my address
book?

I copied my dbx files onto a a USB memory key. Then I copied one of the
files into Outlook to see if it would be there and the folder doesn't show
up. The file is there. when I do a search for *.dbx.

What do I need to do to get my old folders and address book moved from my
old computer? This is very frustrating.

This forum is for *Outlook* - the application that costs money and comes
with Office. Outlook Express is a different program and uses dbx files -
you'll need to ask the OE experts about it. http://www.insideoe.com should
have information on restoring mail to a new computer.

Well Diane, I guess you didn't read my email very carefully. I do have MS
OUTLOOK NOW with MS OFFICE that I PAID FOR on my new computer and I wanted to
move my Outlook Express folders and emails and address book from my old
computer but it failed to move over during the migration. You would think
that an Outlook MVP would have the knowledge to help out someone who wants to
move up to MS Outlook without coming off so high and mighty.

Geez. All I asked for was a little step-by-step help.

You will need to get the data into Outlook Express on the new machine and
then import from Outlook Express into Outlook, check here on how to backup
and restore Outlook Express Data http://www.insideoe.com/backup/. I dont
think Diane was coming across high and mighty, just a slight misreading of
your post and I for one when I saw dbx thought okay the guy is talking about
Outlook Express and so ignored it :). There is a lot of confusion in this
group with poster asking Outlook Express questions which is why Diane
mentioned the "application that costs money" bit. anyway hopes this helps
and please post back if you have any other questions.
