Can't get mail out error message

R

Ron Stanton

If I go through my Email to send and receive mail it does fine BUT if I go
into my works program or (say craigs list) and try to Email out I get an
error message saying that it can not find the server

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Customer', Account:
'pop3', Server: 'att.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10013, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

What can I do to correct this problem?

Thanks in advance

You might try the following - use Port 587 for SMTP (Outgoing Mail Server)
with SSL. Go to Tools, Accounts, select your Mail identity, then Properties
and go to the Advanced tab. You might also change the POP3 Port to 995 (the
default was 110 for me I think). Check the box below each Port setting to
use SSL for both POP3 and SMTP. Here is the Support Info from Windows Live
Mail Help:

"Here's the information to configure your account on your preferred e-mail
client:

- POP3 Server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
- SMTP Server: smtp.live.com (port 25)
{Note: If port 25 has been blocked in your network or by your ISP, you can
set SMTP port to 587 with TLS or SSL Encryption depending on the client in
use}"

On Craig's List, I had to copy the eMail address and paste it into Windows
Mail for it to work. Hope this helps...

There is no mail server named "att.net".
If your mail account is with AT&T, use the settings they specify:

Why are you advocating settings for the Live.com servers for someone
whose mail account is with AT&T?
