Can't get IP Address

I have Win XP Pro comp that one day quit obtaining IP
address from my linksys router, basic configuration. all
other computers have no problem. i have changed out the
NIC and still just gets a 169 address. I reset the
TCP/IP Stack and still no luck. I even did a Repair
install of XP Pro. I have tried all i know and can't get
it to obain an ip from any network. please help

Also, i have no firewalls running, including the built in
windows fire wall. If i try to use the command prompt to
renew the ip, this is the message i get:

"An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area
Connection: An operation was attempted on something that
is not a socket."

This message appears no matter which card i try to use
after replacing it with 2 other cards, both get the same
message.
