"Can't get into add/remove programs..." please help

Dear "to whomever reads this"
I recently had a Trojan horse on my desktop. (I found
this out after installing symantec's Norton antivirus)
I did some small research on symantec and was able to
remove it easily. I thought it'd be a good I dea to keep
norton on my desktop and install it on my laptop. I also
downloaded/installed Microsoft latest critical updates
(service packs included) on both computers. Now I Can't
get into add/remove programs in the control panel. it
comes up with a parser message "Value creation failed at
line 472". the closest thing I found under microsoft's
error search/customer support wast "Value creation failed
at line 410". except my problem is not with
shellstyle.dll! Unfortunately that is the only thing O am
sure of. Please help if you can. Thank you Travis Hoff

Hi Travis,

If this happened after installing SP1 and you are using Style XP:
Parser Message: Value creation failed " at line 472" error

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Themes/choose Windows XP and try again.

Style XP also has an update avialable for SP1
http://www.tgtsoft.com/download.asp

If you have renamed the uxtheme.dll (patch) you could try running SFC
/Scannow to restore the original MS version. Or check in the root directory
for "UxTheme.dll.tqtbak" and rename it to UxTheme.dll and replace the copy
in "C:\windows\system32" with the new renamed copy.

I am VERY grateful for your help.
I do infact use Style xp
and when I changed the theme to windows xp... Add/removed
worked as it should.
THANK YOU
However as far as TGTsoft is concerned, I could not use
your link. I had to go to www.tgtsoft.com and then
downloads. on the left frame there is the download that I
need. But I cannot seem to download it (Style XP 1.0.1L)
Any time I click on the link... it seems to just
regenerate the page. Any suggestions.

P.S.
That was incredible that you knew what the problem was.
did you already know of this problem? or do you know what
parser messages are due to what files?

Most welcome. And yes, when SP1 was first released, this was a very common
issue for many users. Good luck on the download.
