Cant Get Gmail To Work

I have entered all the information from gmail and have configured my gmail
account to allow pop, i keep getting the following error message: The
connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server:
'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error:
10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Did you make sure after setting it up in live mail that you go into the
properties and on the advanced tab make sure that the outgoing server is
secure with 465 as the number and the incoming is also secure with 995 as the
number and then go into the servers tag and make that the box on the bottom
that says "my server requires a secure connection is checked" and make sure
you hit apply when done .. i am using 8 different gmail accounts and have had
no trouble at all.

I am using Gmail from Thunderbird with no issues in Vista RC1. What
email client are you using?

No problems running gmail here, I'm using Office 2007 and just let outlook
configure the settings for me. Works no problem.

im having a similar problem with gmail working in windows mail on
vista...wont retrieve the mail from gmail, all settings are completely
correct tho...but if you select to synchronise you gmail account when it
retreives mail it just comes up with the error message.
