Can't get audio to work with Logitech Webcam (STX)

I am not able to get my microphone to work on a video link. Neither the
built in Logitech mic or an external one plugged into the sound card will
work. Both mics pass all the set up and checks provided in the software for
the Webcam and in the Control Panel "sounds and audio devices" setup and
tests. I was able to get an external mike to work at one point, but, now it
won't work either. Thanks for any suggestions.

You made sure the volume properties from the SysTray are not set to Mute on
Line In or Mic (or whichever connection you have it connected to) in
RECORDING. File, Options.....

Thanks Cari, I checked and the "mute" box was not checked, but, the "C media
mixer" mike rec level was set only half way up. I raised it to max and I'll
try again. Another post indicated they had similar problems with a family
member's computer, but, it worked fine on another family member's computer.
Also, could you confirm that MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger are now
the same? Thanks.

Live Messenger is the new one and I believe replacing the others.
