I am trying to delete a video file, but I am told it
is "being used by another person or program". I have
cleared the history of all my video software (Windows
Media Player, Real One Player, etc.), as well as the
media libraries. I have deleted all temp folders, I have
rebooted, etc... I have no idea what program could be
using the file. Is there a way to force a delete, or at
least to view what program is supposedly using this
file? It takes up a lot of memory and I want it gone.
Thanks.

You are probably trying to delete from within Windows Explorer. Whenever you
select the file to delete it, Explorer opens the file to read information
from it. This can take a while, especially when the file is corrupted.
That's why you cann't delete it.

To delete the file, you should use another method. Preferably with a command
prompt. Make sure you close programs that could be using the file, such as
Windows Explorer.

you can sometimes delete them by using
Total Commander. It's shareware. A google search will find it for you.
It's a great file manager.
