can't forward

I've been able to forward messages right along in outlook 2003. All of a
sudden I'm getting locked up when Outlook has on the screen 'starting word
2003 email editor'. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
 
Does Word start succesfully on it's own?
Does the forward function work when you've got Outlook set as the e-mail
editor?
