can't find where service starts

Installed PowerDVD v5. Works great, but I'm fussy about what services
are running and found PDVD installs a service called PDVDserv.exe.

Went into Autoruns and did not see a startup entry for it. Also checked
W2K services and don't see it listed there either! Hmmm.

If a running service does not show up in Autoruns nor the services
panel, nor startup group, where can it be started from?

BTW, after ending the service I found PDVD runs just fine.

TIA

How did you end the service? I find hard to believe that Autoruns
doesn't see this startup item! A quick search on the net seems to
suggest that it is started from one of the registry run keys, something
that Autoruns is fully capable of detecting.

hi John

you are right, it is part of the RUN reg. keys. I found out Autoruns DID
display the service, I just didn't notice it because the service was
UNCHECKED. Once finding this UNchecked box was in fact the service I
checked, then unchecked the box, rebooted the system and viola,
everything is OK.

Thanks for your input
