I just loaded XP Pro(Clean Install) onto a new eMachine that had XP Home
(Wiped HD of XP Home).
Installation went well with no problems.
Everything seems to work just fine except for the fact that I can't get
System Information to come up!?
I click Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information and nothing
comes up!!!!!!!
What am I missing?

Thanks,

Jack Barrett

Boot into safe mode (press F8 during POST). Once in safe mode
change the monitor resolution and refresh to the correct parameters.
Be sure to check your monitor manual for compatible settings first.

Regards.

It won't let me boot up in safe mode!
It gets to loading drivers in safe mode and then it stops loading for some
reason. Does safe mode take a long time to load?
Hard to believe that the monitor is causing all of this.

Thanks,

jack

Might be time to do a repair install. Boot with the XP CD and after
accepting the license agreement, select repair. After repairing the
system, you'll have to download and install all critical updates
including SP-1.

Come to think of it.... If you haven't already installed too much
stuff to your Pro, you might want to think about starting over and
install Pro clean. Lots of work, but that may be what you'll wind up
doing anyway..

Regards.
