can't find old documents, folders, etc

hello to all,
so it just dawned on me that all of my old files, folders, pictures, music,
etc that were saved onto my harddrive are no where to be found. i've tried
logging off and logging back on, but all of my settings are different from
before and i really need all of my old stuff. if anyone can give me the
first clue in this treasure hunt of sorts i'd be very appreciative

Did you do a re-install or log on via another account? If so, your
documents are probably still in the old account folder structure. Use
Explorer to go to c:\documents and settings\<old account name>\My Documents.
You may need to take ownership of the folders to gain access.
