Can't find internet sight to download

[DJFJ]

Everytime I'm at a website and want to download a
file....say acrobat reader, my computer gives me an error
that it cannot connect to the site, or find the site. My
other computers normally just connect then ask me where to
save the file, or to open the file. This computer is
running Windows 2000. Any ideas would be appreciated.
