Can't enter new contacts

I'm no longer able to enter new contacts. Each time I try, I receive a
message telling me the folder is full. I have fewer than 1,000 contacts.

Any ideas?

Version of Outlook? Type of account?

I'm using 2003

I've found that I could create a new contact account, and it allows me to
enter new emails into that.
