Can't enter a new appointment or meeting, or modify existing in Ou

Outlook 2003 Calendar problem - Typically when I would enter a new
appointment I would just click on the "New" button at the top. When I do
this, the dialog box doesn't open. Nothing happens. Also, when I
right-click on an existing appointment to open it, when I left click "Open"
nothing happens, the dialog box doesn't open up. Also, when I just click on
a date on the calendar and start typing, this would usually enter a new
appointment. When I do this now I am able to type but when I hit "enter" to
set the appointment, a window opens that says "Microsoft Office Outlook -
Could not save item." and just an OK button to click on. Does anyone know
how I can fix this?

Do you have synchronisation software installed for a PDA or something
similar?
What mail account type are you using?
Do you have the same behavior after a restart?
