Can't edit live on server all of a sudden

G

Guest

I'm in FP 2002. I must have checked a box or something. I need to be able to
log on live to the server hosting my Web site. I used to be able to click the
Edit with FP toolbar button, enter my domain and password, and go into the
files. I've done this for years with no problem.

Now when I do that, a temporary Internet file on my hard drive is opened
instead of the live files of my Web site. I tried File, Open, and got the
same result.

I have 2 sites with different hosting companies, and the same thing happened
with both.

Thanks for the help.

Kathleen, thanks. But that didn't help. Any other ideas?
(However, I think it cleared up a different problem I was having...backspace
on a page or insert a cell in a table, or just click in certain places on a
page...then WAM, FP would snap shut.)

Try changing the Temporary Internet Files settings in Internet Explorer.
In IE, Tools->Internet Options - General Tab
Click Settings button
Change to "Every time I visit the webpage"

Click OK, OK

This makes no difference on my PC (always opens the website whatever the
TIF settings) but your mileage may vary.

Thanks Ronx. This helped! I have to be in FP to open the site. If I'm on the
site, I still have the problem.

Anymore ideas to try would be appreciated.

It's better to open your site from within FP anyway (not using the IE Edit
with Button)

Wanted to give an update. The problem went away. I forgot my old rule...when
strange things happen, reboot. After I rebooted, the problem went away.
However, I'll take Crash's advice and only open my site from within FP from
now on.

Thanks everybody.
