Can't drag 'n' drop files on desktop

I've recently uninstalled some programs (with uninstaller)
and I'm now unable to move, copy or cut and paste files
anywhere on the desktop. The files and folders are not
compressed, have all appropriate permissions, but will not
copy to another drive/folder/desktop, etc. Mouse drag and
drop does not work. The only way I can move a file is to
open it in an application, and save it to a different
location.
Anyone got an idea? Thx. -bp

You probably uninstalled some needed files. Do a repair installation of
Windows. (won't lose data)
