Please provide more information:

1. Which version of Vista you are running
2. How you connect to the Internet
3. What browser are you using (such a IE7)
4. What happens when you try, including the exact text of any error messages
5. To where are you downloading the files (such as Downloads folder in
your user directory)

Vista home premium
ADSL connection with a netgear modem router.
Its a new laptop so Im gathering its IE7.
The message I get in a box is the connection with the server was reset.

I am now able to get emails and download files, just not able to download
any instant messenger.

thanks

Any instant messenger such as AIM? Or just a particular one? From any
website or just one? If just one, which one?

Hi Malke, it is happening with any IM... but I have solved the problem in a
way... I downloaded the MSN messenger onto my usb stick and loaded it onto my
laptop... it worked. However, it doesnt solve the problem really... what
about the ppl who dont have another computer to download from... hmmm I cant
believe they would release something that has so many flaws and can get away
with it. It would be like it Toyota released a car that the wheels didnt
rotate!!!! The engine's fine... but sorry you have sort out the wheels!!! Ppl
would be up in arms!!! Microsoft... is making me want to go to Apple!!!
