Can't Download Files

G

Guest

I am running windows vista with IE 7.
I want to download some files from the internet .

I right click – save as – select where I want to save the file – Saving to
Desktop
File is getting download but after the download completes a sound pops &
download screen goes away without asking me to run or close the program???
The file briefly shows on m desktop but goes away right before the sound pops

I have disabled all IE add ons, disabled anti virus, spyware and windows
defender and I still have the problem.

I have tried downloading zip, pdf, exe and mp3 it does not matter.
I have done a computer wide search and the file is not locatable.

Does anyone have a fix for this please reply.

Launch IE and from the toolbar select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced.
Then scroll down to "Notify when downoads complete", place a check in
the box and click Apply.

Why do you right click? I just left click on the download link and a dialog pops
up asking me to run or save the download. I choose my desktop or a folder on my
desktop and have no problems at all. When the download completes, a dialog
opens asking to Run, Open Folder or Close.

I am having the same problem. I try to download updates to programs
running on the computer, but to no avail. Can not "save" or "run".
Download completes and then just disappears. Has anyone thought of
the reason or how to resolve this problem with vista?>?

I, too, cannot 'find' my files after downloading. ????? I downloaded PSP X
and at first it wouldn't let me download to my C: drive...what's up with
that? So I downloaded to the folder that was named my name, Anne. I cannot
find this file altho when I went to download again (thinking it never made it
to my computer), it shows it's there and asks me if I want to rewrite it.

Has anyone figured this out?

Thanks,
Anne
