Can't download files/play flash files in IE

I recently bought and installed Norton Systemworks 2005 for my home PC. It
has Windows XP w/service pack 2 on it. After installing and doing some
cleaning and maintenance with the program, I can no longer download any type
of file from a web site through IE6, nor will it play any flash file. It's
like their being blocked. I have turned off the pop-up blocker, turned off my
virus scan, uninstalled Systemworks, reinstalled XP and IE, uninstalled and
reinstalled Flash player, and nothing has fixed it. Anyone run across this
problem and have a fix.

Hi,

Try the following:

Close all instances of IE.
Open a single session of Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools, then Internet Options.
Click on the 'Security' tab.
Click on the 'Custom Level' button.
Scroll down to the 'Downloads' header, and make sure that "File Download" is
enabled.

Click on OK to save and exit the Security Settings box.
Click on OK to save and exit the Internet Options dialog box.

Does this help with your issue?

Best regards,

Altrus

Hi,

Have you also confirmed the ActiveX settings? If they are set to high (or
disabled) you won't be able to download the flash files. You might also wish to
check the Install On Demand settings as you may have inadvertently denied access
to the flash files. This would prevent them from ever running.

Also, please look over the Flash support guide. Ensure that you have correctly
installed the player, and walk through the support steps to see if that resolves
the issue. You can find the guide here:

: No, that isn't the problem. That was already checked to the appropriate
: setting.
