Can't doubleclick and open my folders

G

Gwen

Some how after I downloaded WinXP updates my system
slowed up and seemed to crash. While this was happening,
I think I doubleclicked on something that changed the way
I open my documents and folders. Instead of opening my
documents, I am directed to the Search Menu. Please help
me. All I want to do is open my folders and documents
with a click and open or doubleclick and open. Thanks

See Doug's link below, click on XP-FIXES and look in the righthand column.

Hi Gwen,

Click Start | Run | type "regsvr32 /i shell32.dll"

If this does not help, refer:
Search Companion Starts If You Double-Click a Folder
