Can't do System Recovery!! HELP!!!

i need help... every time i try to do a system recovery a little window pops
up and saids "no user partition, cant start system recovery" then shuts down.
how do i fix this problem?! thank you much!!

Try booting and selecting the Last Known Good Configuration option.

If that works try using System Restore to restore the system to a point
before the problem arose.
