Hello,

I have two files. They are "VIV" files. I was trying out a music
software program. The whole program was lame. But now I can't delete
these two files. I'm not talking about the programs. I'm talking
about the files that go with the program. Their extension is .viv as
far as I can tell.

These files are really annoying. When I right-click to look at the
properties, it won't let me even do that. And when I try to delete
them, the computer hangs.

I saw a program on the internet called MegaSweep. I'm not sure if
that is the solution.

I think these VIV files are corrupt. So maybe I have to logon as an
administrator. I'll try that but I'm not sure.

I'm using Vista, but I think it would be the same solution as XP to
kill these files.

Any ideas?

For issues when running Vista you should post to a Vista newsgroup.
Security issues are much different in Vista. Here is a list of the Vista
newsgroups.

microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_password
microsoft.public.windows.vista.file_management
microsoft.public.windows.vista.games
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general
microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_assessment
microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_devices
microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup
microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_video
microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing
microsoft.public.windows.vista.performance_maintenance
microsoft.public.windows.vista.print_fax_scan
microsoft.public.windows.vista.security

you can always try it from safe mode.

or if you know how to navigate from COMMAND prompt while in save mode run a COMMAND prompt with ADMIN privel and attempt the delete from there.

by the way there are vista news groups. refresh the list on your server.
or use the microsoft news server.
msnews.microsoft.com
no logon required.
