Can't Delete Quicktime From Startup

K

KIR

Using: XP Home Edition 5.1.2600 SP3 build 2600
Quick Time Player 7.5(861)

Even though I delete QT from startup it still shows up on turnon. I went to
Run/msconfig/startup and unchecked "qttask", I then clicked apply and
restart. Upon restart it doesn't appear. However, when I turn off the
machine later and then turn it on it reappears again. Why won't it stay
turned off? Thanks.

Go into the QuickTime program folder and re-name qttask.exe to
qttask.ex_ to prevent the executable from running.

If you have some experience working in the Windows registry /and you
pride yourself on being careful/ then you can remove the qttask entry
from the Run key in HKLM.

This is actually an Apple question, as yes, they've written it in such a way
that it attempts to reload itself and re-enters itself in the startup
groups.
