can't delete html from preview tab

G

Guest

I pasted a hyperlink to the shared left border of the index.html page and it
looked ok in the normal tab. when i uploaded it had moved the rest of the
page way over to the right. on front page I deleted the hyperlink but html
text appears in the preview tab and on the browser all pages, and I can't
delete it as it doesn't appear in the html tab.
thanks..Ron

In design view highlight the offending text.
Switch to code view and it will still be highlighted so you can delete it.

Thomas, I selected the text on the preview tab, rt clicked on it and selected
highlight, then switched to the html tab and there was nothing highlighted.
Previously I have searched the html tab for the text and could never find it,
I must still be doing something wrong, tnx..Ron

In FP 2000 it is "Normal" view.

You have to be in Normal / Design View, you can not make change from the Preview tab.

Steve, it doesn't appear in "normal view" or the html tab, only in "preview".
Tnx...Ron

Then in normal view, highlight something in the same area and then switch to html view.

Thomas, this html text only appears in the "preview tab" pushing the rest of
the page over to the right. I have checked the html tab for the text, but
cannot see it, to be able to delete it.The location is

Try Refresh.
You may want to try Recalculate Hyperlinks too, since I think, that was part of a hyperlink.

You have code somewhere else on your page that is generating those tags, which get filled in with
the text you see in preview or in your browser.

Thanks Thomas, I think it is fixed. I clicked the "show all" button at the
top and it showed 2 boxes with question marks at the lower part of the left
border, When I clicked on them it showed the <xmp> tags, and when I rt
clicked on each I was able to cut them. Now when I check the preview tab ,
everything looks ok. Are there any further steps I should take? Ron

Yah I thought not. I'm guess it was a remnant of a copy/paste affiliate script. Haven't seen those tags in a while.
