Can't delete files

Why does Windows xp say (for a while anyway - until a new
boot up) that a file cannot be deleted because it is in
use, when no applications are using that file. Is there
any workaround, besides waiting till later to delete the
file?

Thanks

Hi,

If it's a multimedia file, first open the media player and delete the file
from the playlist, then close it and retry deleting the file. Otherwise, see
this from MVP Kelly:
