Sarah,

Try creating another file in that same folder (right-click, choose New >
Text Document). Press [Enter] to accept the default name of New Text
Document. Now select that text document by clicking on it. Next, hold the
Ctrl button down and highlight the video file. Both files should now be
highlighted. Now just press the delete key on your keyboard and the video
file and the dummy file should go to the Recycle Bin, which you can now
empty.

Greetings

To correct this misbehavior in Windows XP, remove the following registry
key.

Goto Start>>Run>>Type "regedit" goto

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850D
C73E}\InProcServer32] - Delete this key

This will prevent Explorer from loading shmedia.dll in response to file
property queries on these files.

Which will no longer allow codec information from the files to be read, for
those not aware.

Sarah,
I had the same problem and how I finally fixed it was to start a cmd window and just cd to teh directory and delete it. I chased it for hours trying to figure out which program was running the file but it wasn't running anywhere that I could see

There may be a better way, but this worked for me. :)
