can't ctart in safe mode

F8/start windows in safe mode/enter -
I only got black screen and lines with white letters which could mean
something to some programmer, but mean nothing to me :))
I need to start windows in safe mode to delete an avi.file

OS is WinXP Home

Hi George,

The black screen with white letters is normal when starting in safe mode.
Did booting to safe mode work for you? Your post makes it sound like it
didn't. If booting into safe mode didn't work can you give more specifics
on what you are seeing when trying to boot into safe mode?

How come you can't delete this avi file when running XP in normal mode? Did
you try deleting this file before attempting to boot into safe mode?
