Can't Copy To Floppy

H

H Martin

I format a floppily and try to copy a Win ? boot disk with an
Autoexe.bat, Configsys and a command.com form my CDR to a that formatted
floppy.
When I do this I get no Autoexe, config.sys or command.com. So I start
over, move all the files to a Temp folder, select all and change them to read
only attributes and then try to copy to floppy but the
Autotoexe.bat,config.sys and command.com are still missing. So I try to copy
it to a new CDR but the same thing happens.

Are the files set with the Hidden and System attributes? Try this:
Go to Tools>Folder Options>View. Mark "Show hidden files and folders" and
uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Or you could just create
a boot disk using the instructions at
http://home.earthlink.net/~montybarker/bootdisk.html.
I also don't think a floppy will be bootable with just those three files.
I think it also needs IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS. Those files are the "meat and
potatoes" of any PC operating system. Without 'em, you just get that
annoying "Non-System Disk or Disk Error" message on boot.

If u are using win XP, u need to have a start up program
to boot from MSDOS. that program requires 6 floppy disks,
and i have it. I forget where I downloaded them, but e-
mail me if u want it, i can send u.
