can't copy from a shared network folder

A folder on a Win2000 PC is shared to a local network with read only
permissions. I can browse that folder from the other 2 PCs on the
network. While browsing is possible, copying in not, i.e. I can browse
from another PC but when i select a file to copy it to the PC I'm using
I get an error message telling me that access is denied and "the source
may be in use". Any ideas why this is happening?

Thank you in advance.

You have to deal with two different permissions. One refers to
the share, the second to the shared objects themselves.

It is not enough if the share has sufficient permissions. The
objects, like files, folders, or printers, have to have
sufficient permissions too.

The sharing configuration I use for the specific folder, is the same I
use to folders that are to be shared in the network. The only one I have
the problem is that one.

How to I set the permissions ti the shared objects?

In Windows Explorer, right-click on the shared folder. But do
not select sharing. Instead select the permissions (security).

There you have to give permissions either to the group Everyone
or to a group that contains the user or to the user in person.
