Can't Copy Files to "D" Drive

I'm using XP Professional. When I drag a file to "D" drive in order to burn a
CD for back-up, I get the message box: Problem Copying "Windows encountered a
problem when trying to copy this folder. What do you want Windows to do?" The
only alternatives are: Retry, Skip & Cancel....nothing is resolved by either
of these alternatives. I can't find any Help relavent to this particular
issue. I have no problem restoring files on this computer from backup CD's
written on a former computer using Nero and I can burn Audio CD's using WMP,
so I know the CD-ROM is working. Thanx for any help.

When this occurs is it on a blank cd, or one that had previously burned data on it? If it
is not blank, older versions of files are not actually deleted from the CD, and so newer
versions of files require additional space.

KB,
Thanx for the response. It's w/a new CD-R in the drive. However, I can't
even drag the file to the D:\ address, much less write it to the CD.
Consequently, I don't think the problem can be w/the CD or CD-ROM. Any ideas?

Maybe your setup requires you to format the CD before copying the files.

Or maybe, the OP is using the default Windows XP burning
software which does not do drag and drop.

Have you tried "copy" and "paste" instead of dragging?

Try right clicking the files you want to send to the cd then select "Send
To" then select the cd burner.

when I right click on my files my CD Burner which is E is not there any more. It was there until yesterday and I was burning pictures for quit awhile then it was gone. I can put my CD in the writer and open it and see what is on it. Susan T
