Can't convert movie to be able to burn on video cd. Please Help!!

When you save a movie in the "Produce Movie" screen, it
saves as a windows media video file. This kind of file
does not play on DVD players. Newer DVD players allow you
to play video cds that you have burned from a computer
but they only read mpegs and maybe a couple others.
Whenever I save the movie as a different file type, like
mpeg, then try to burn it onto a video cd with my burning
program, it says that it is not a valid mpeg format.

My question is, how can I convert a movie file (made in
windows movie maker) to a mpeg file that would be
compatible with a DVD player. If you know how to help,
please take a couple minutes to either email me or post a
reply to this. Thank you.

Save as a DV-AVI, then use a program that can make a VCD from an AVI file.

check www.vcdhelp.com for ideas on what will convert your AVI and burn it -
also on what players are VCD compatible - not all are.

To encode your avi file to mpeg2 you need third party software. I have used Sonic My DVD, Roxio Easy CD Creator 6(includes mpeg encoder) and Tsunami which is free for a 30 day trial. I like Tsunami because it offers greater flexability for encoding settings to control quality, compression and noise. You can get more 30 day trials after expiration. Advice: search and learn all you can about MPEG encoding from the web. A greater understanding will give you better video. Keep in mind that video processing is a very steep learning curve and working with it and studying it will only improve your experience. See PapaJohn's web site for more on MPEG encoding at papajohn.org
