Can't connect with RDP Client

Hello everyone,

We are running multiple Windows 2000 Advanced Servers with
Terminal Services set up in Application Mode. The
workstations are Windows 2000 Professional. The local user
account on the workstation is a restricted User in
the "Users" group. That user is able to connect to any
terminal server through the tsweb page. But the local user
is unable to connect to a server with the RDP client.
Everything works fine if I'm logged in with a local user
account in the Administrators group. Are local restricted
users not allowed to connect to a terminal server using
the RDP client? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Which error message do you get when you try to connect?
Have you checked the permissions on the rdp-tcp connection?

The error message is as follows:

Remote Desktop Disconnected
The client could not establish a connection to the remote
computer.
The most likely causes for this error are:
1) Remote connections might not be enabled at the remote
computer.
2) The maximum number of connections was exceeded at the
remote computer.
3) A network error occurred while establishing the
connection.

I checked the permissions for the RDP-TCP connection and
the group Everyone has user access. I also tried using the
RDP client as a power user, same result. It only works if
I'm logged in with administrator privileges. However, I
can login with any user using the tsweb site.

I tried that as well, no luck. The local user has to be in
the Administrators group to be able to connect through the
RDP client. But there might be a workaround for my
problem. The only reason why I want to use the RDP client
is to automate the login process. If there would be a way
to save a password in a tsweb page that would also work
for me. Right now I open up the tsweb page which already
has the username and server name in it. It automatically
gets me to the regular Windows 2000 login screen and skips
the original tsweb connect page.
