can't connect to itunes store

my laptop pc runs windows xp professional with service pack 2. my internet
connection is cable broadband. isp is aol (tho i could use msn or internet
explorer). i cannot connect to the itunes store. i keep getting a message
saying "your network connection has timed out. check your network settings
and that your network is active" depsite the fact that i am online the whole
time and can connect to any other site with ease. i have changed settings,
added itunes store to the "trusted websites" with no avail. can anyone help?

Bypass AOL (and honestly, if you've got cable broadband provided by someone
else, I'm not sure why you'd want AOL software on your computer anyway).

Try Internet Explorer & reset all the security settings to their defaults.
If you get no joy there, you might check out itunes help/support pages.
