Can't connect to folders on my website when adding a hyperlink to a file

A

asantgms

Hi,

I use FP2003. When I open it, I can open my website remotely that on the
Internet. I can view my folders, files, etc, but let's say that I want to
add a link on my home page to a file in a directory of my website. When I go
to Insert Hyperlink, I get an error that says my folders are not available.
In other words in the window I should use to surf to the file i want out on
the website, it says I can't. What does it mean my folders are missing? I'm
working in them directly on the website.

Thanks,
mark

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner.

Run the functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the Cache{.web} files.

Hi Steve,

My website is www.grantlifelink.com. I ran the FP cache clean-up and the
temp file clean-up. When I ran FP2003, it still says "The folder
http://www.grantlifelink.com/ is no longer available. What else could cause
this?

This started some time back, but before when this started, when I inserted a
hyperlink it actually brought up the folders and files of my website in the
insert hyperlink window.

Thanks,
Mark

Also try deleting any network place you may have for you online site and then open the site in FP & run a Tools Recalculate
Hyperlinks
- If your host allows it, also Run Tools Server Admin - Health Check (or have the host run it)
Are the Folders / files showing in View Folder List?

Stefan,

I also have tried every answer posted in this thread and to no avail. I
cannot even open my website anymore after trying the fpclean.
I never had this trouble when I had FP2000. FP 2003 seems to have more bugs
than a termite hill on the Serengeti.
Is this a problem with 2003? I seem to know a lot of people who have the
same issues

Not that I'm aware of

In IE browse to http://www.grantlifelink.com/home/ and use File Edit w/ FP

If you can't get in have your host run a server FP SE health check

The folder list works ok, it's only when I edit the current page, such as
trying to change the background picture, and when I hit "browse" in the popup
box, the system responds with "folder no longer available" even though I have
the website open and in edit mode.

I do not know if you have resolved your issue, we had a similar thing today
and the solution was to enable Directory Browsing on the Home directory.
