cant connect after upgrade

Running XP home. Installed upgrades from "Automatic
upgrade" about 2 weeks ago. Now I can only connect to
internet if I shut down Zone Alarm Pro, or sometimes I can
do a system restore to the last date I shut down the
computer. I would really appreciate any help. I keep
getting "Upgrades are ready to install" balloon but I'm
leary now.

You may have to tweak the settings of your firewall. The fact that
you can connect when you turn it off indicates that the firewall is
interfering with your normal operation. The XP upgrades are really
necessary to beef up XP's security, so make sure that you apply them.
A virus entered my computer through Internet Explorer just by visiting
a web site that had some infective pop-ups before I applied the
upgrades.
