Can't change my Administrator account

ON my Windows2000 desktop machine, I changed the Local Users settings for
myself from Administrator to User, as a security measure. Now, I can't get
back to the Administrator account because, during a boot, Win2k moves
directly through the logon page without giving me an opportunity to logon as
an Administrator. I always end up with my old settings as a User and get
"Access Denied" messages whenever I need to do anything important. And
holding down the Shift key during a logon does not override the auto logon
feature. I would appreciate a workaround. Thanks. Dave

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, log off, then log on as Administrator. Now
turn off the automatic logon feature.

Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work for me because when I go to log off, the screen to logon won't pause to let me change the name. What else can I try? Thanks.

Try:

Start->Run
cmd

runas /user:Administrator regedit
<enter password at prompt>

Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Take a backup of this key.

Look for a value called "AutoAdminLogon"
If present, right-click it and delete it.

Close regedit and restart the machine.

Let me know if the value isn't there or if this fixed it!
