Can't change files from "read-only".

I am having some trouble with the Windows XP SP2. I was copying files from my
C:\ drive to the DVD writer and suddenly the files refused to copy. I checked
the properties of the files and all in the C:\ drive are set to read-only. So
I unchecked the read-only box and the computer said it was making all the
folders, subfolders and files not "read-only". But, it doesn't stick. When I
check the properties, even after rebooting, the read-only box is checked
again and I can't copy any files.

Can you help?

I had this problem. I eventually discovered that because I had some CD/DVD
software installed (Pinnacle) Windows no longer supported the writing of
CD/DVDs. When I used the installed software to write the CD it worked OK and
there was no need to change the read only attribute.

Hi,

First off, "read-only" has no bearing on this issue. When you see it on
folders, ignore it (Windows does, the attribute is not applied to folders
even though it appears). Even if a file is set to read-only, that is no
reason it cannot be copied to disk.

You need to check with support for the DVD writing software, as this isn't a
Windows issue.
