There is no option for me under User Accounts> Administrator to change my
name. All I see is change my password/picture, and set up a .NET passport.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it?
Thanks!
I'm guessing here that you're running XP Professional. If that's the case,
here are a couple of options.
Option 1.
Right click My Computer and select Manage from the menu.
In the left hand column, click on the + sign next to Local Users and Groups.
Click on the Users folder.
In the right hand pane, right click on Administrator and select Rename from
the menu.
Enter the name you want and hit Enter.
Option 2.
Go to Start -> Run and enter gpedit.msc in the Open box.
In the Security Policies console, navigate to the following location by
clicking on the + signs.
Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local
Policies -> Security Options
In the right hand pane, right click on Accounts: Rename administrator
account and select Properties from the menu.
Replace Administrator in the box with the name you want and click OK.
There are a couple of other ways to do this but these two are the simplest.
Note: Keep in mind that using the built-in Administrator as your regular
account is not a good idea.
Good luck
