Can't Burn CD's

I have Windows ME & Media Player 7. MP instructions state
that MP7 enables the creation of CD's from Playlists. Yet
when I try to Burn a CD the Adeptec Easy CD Creator Plug-
In appears - 'No CD recording device detected', preventing
further progress. I can copy to the MP Library OK but am
unable to burn a CD using MP. Where am I going wrong.
Please help. Dave.R
