Can't browse the network?

I used to be able to, but now I can't. All the Machines are either
Windows XP or Windows 2000. When I double click on My Network Places
and hit View Workgroup Computers and I get the error, the list of
servers for this group is unavailable.
What happened?
My brother's PC was infested with spyware... so I reformatted. My
theory was that maybe somebody hacked it, and screwed around with my
router settings. I checked everything and it seems to be OK. I can
ping each machine. If I search for the computers, I can find them and
access the shares. Just not browse. I gave it an hour at one point
(while I was doing wash) and it still couldn't browse.

So far I have enabled netbios over tcp/ip under WINS -> advanced.

I have two XP machines that aren't browsing, and one that absolutly
can. Both are SP2. One Windows 2000 machine can't either.
It used to work... But just quit.
I'm using a Linksyhs BEFSR81 router, with firmware 2.44.2

I fixed it. My router needed a firmware upgrade. Doh.

I hate upgrading firmware... I do it to printers in my line of work,
and when it fails, bad things happen. But this time it worked.

I'm glad you fixed it. I hope it lasts because I have the exact thing happen
to our network and each time I found something that worked, I was elated
only to find a few hours later, back to square one, unable to use "my
network places". but always able to search and map and share internet. I too
fee the same as you where upgrading firmware is concerned as it totally
messed up for me once so I'll leave it as a last resort.
Good luck.
