Can't boot up

M

Mac88s

I recently had some viruses removed. Got my computer back and all was well. I
updated some drivers for my video, sound, printer and motherboard. All was
working well. When I tried to adjust my display adapter setting to 1920x1050
from 1680x1050 my monitor says input signal out of range-change settings to
1680x1050. The problem is I can't get to it because my screen is black. When
I reboot I try to get to safe mode and it doesn't happen. It just goes right
to scan disk. Then it seems to me it is booting normally but I can't see
anything it just has the same message on the screen with a black background.
I don't want to spend another $100 to get this fixed again. Is there anyway I
can just get to the display adapters so I can change the settings so I can
"see" windows and get some fixes going here? Thanks for the help.

Hello,

Switch on your computer and keep hitting F8 until you get a menu titled
"Windows Advanced Options Menu". If you see the XP loading progress bar, you
missed it and will have to try rebooting again.

If there is only one option in that menu, hit F8 again.

In this menu select 'Enable VGA Mode', Enter, Enter and you should be able
to return to Windows in VGA mode. Fix your display settings and reboot the
computer.

Note: If there is no 'Enable VGA Mode', option, select 'Start Windows
Normally' and *quickly* hit the F8 key for the correct menu to come out
