ok are you talking about setting it up as a master with the ide cable and
changing position of pin or in bios, if in bios i cant as its not in there

Sometimes when you are looking at the devices in BIOS to boot from, the
drive you are looking for may be off the screen or list and you just need to
keep scrolling through the choices until you find it.
If the drive really doesn't show in BIOS, you have a problem that has
nothing to do with Windows.
You may need to get another drive!

well it really aint there and if there was a problem with the drive wouldnt
there be a problem when you try and use it in windows it self or not.

In my bios, there are two sections.
One lists the various ide drives and the second lists the boot up drives.
In order to have a drive show up as one of the options to boot from I have
to manage the list of drives in the first list.
In the first list, the drive I want to boot from has to be the first drive,
then in the boot up drives list it will show up.
If I don't have my drive as the first, or possibly the second drive in the
total list of all drives in my system, then it will not show up in the boot
selection list.
If you are installing Vista, you will want the hard drive that you want to
boot from to be the second item in the boot up list.
You can have the dvd drive as the second boot drive if there is no bootable
operating system on any of the other drives.
