Can't Boot (maybe Sasser?)

Hello

My other computer runs on Windows 2000 Professional and had been experiencing problems (i.e. slow, freezing, blue stop screen, etc.). Finally, after about a week, it no longer will allow me to boot. I've tried all possible options from the F8 Boot menu, and I always get 1 of 2 errors

Either it tells me there are no boot devices (the bios shows no primary HD), or it allows me to get to the windows 2000 boot option screen, and regardless of what option I choose, it waits a few seconds and tells me that a file in the boot sector is missing or corrupted

Are there any patches or programs that I can download to a disk so I can boot the problem computer from the disk to update my virus software and critical windows updates? Or is there any other way for me to get around the boot problems I'm having

Thank you very much for your time

Devin

1.) Appears to be some hardware failure. Drive and or controller failure.
2.) You can boot the recovery console and from a command prompt issue the
command;
fixboot
to replace the bootsector. To start the Recovery Console, start the computer
from the Windows 2000 Setup CD or the Windows 2000 Setup floppy disks. If
you do not have Setup floppy disks and your computer cannot start from the
Windows 2000 Setup CD, use another Windows 2000-based computer to create the
Setup floppy disks. Press ENTER at the "Setup Notification" screen. Press R
to repair a Windows 2000 installation, and then press C to use the Recovery
Console. The Recovery Console then prompts you for the administrator
password. If you do not have the correct password, Recovery Console does
not allow access to the computer. If an incorrect password is entered three
times, the Recovery Console quits and restarts the computer. Once the
password has been validated, you have full access to the Recovery Console,
but limited access
to the hard disk. You can only access the following folders on your
computer: %systemroot% and %windir%
